Hockey Metallurg goalkeeper murderers are sentenced
Regional court of Chelyabinsk passed the sentence to the Metallurg (Magnitogorsk) goalkeeper murderers yesterday, SE Internet correspondent Boris TITOV reports. |
Sergey Zemchenko, Russian and Euroleague Championships winner, Russian Cup and Supercup holder was killed on January, 15th, in his doorway, in Magnitogorsk town. He was shot from gas pistol that was converted to use live cartridge. The murderers Vadim Toporov and Anatoly Shnitzar entered the elevator together with Sergey when he was returning from the training. They chose him as a victim only because he was driving Audi and thus according to their logic was a rich person. |
Initially the culprits planned only to rob him but having estimated his physique Shnitzar who has previously had 2 convictions changed his decision. Sergey was shot on his way out of the elevator. The murderers got his bag with 5,000 rubles and documents. The money was spent on drugs. A month later Shnitzar committed analogous crime in Chelyabinsk, having shot private entrepreneur Andrey Galkin, getting only 3,000 rubles from his wallet. |
He was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment. Vadim Toporov is sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. |
In memory of Sergey Zemchenk a memorial was set up in Magnitogorsk on May, 19. |
