Tennis Russian tennis players are in semifinals
Russian junior team entered semifinals of the team tournament Connolly Continental Cup currently held in Key Biscayne. In the final match of the team stage Russian women players celebrated (third time already) love game. This time they defeated Hungarian team - 3:0. |
To the success contributed Vera Zvonareva who defeated Zuzana Babosh - 6:2, 6:3, Svetlana Kuznetsova's victory over Virad Nemez - 7:5, 6:3 and pair players Zvonareva/Anna Bastrikova who defeated Babosh/Nemets - 6:1, 6:2. |
In the semifinals the pupils of Evgenia Manukova will oppose the strongest team of the tournament - Czech national team which comprises players who have already been in WTA - Eva Birnerova, Barbora Strychova and Petra Chetkovska. The second semifinal pair is composed from Argentina and Croatia national teams. The Croatians in group 3 defeated the USA team, which was weakened due to the absence of Betany Mattek who got trauma. |
Russian men national team has defeated Czech in the final match in its group - 3:0, but didn't manage to enter semifinals. |
